The project was a single storey rear extension to provide large kitchen and rear reception/dining area and WC.

Our project was a refurb and extension to an Edwardian terraced house. We invited three builders to tender and met with them on site to discuss the project and understand how they would approach the job. We were immediately taken by Atlantic Construction because they had a nice balance of friendliness and professionalism. They are a family team and as we had to get the job complete before our first child arrived, we felt like they understood and were sympathetic to our situation. Once the job got started I was amazed by how quickly they progressed, keeping us in the loop at every stage, identifying issues and offering pragmatic solutions that didn't break the bank. Being and old house, there were a few unexpected twists but the Atlantic boys were always ready to go the extra mile to find a solution that worked for us. We were in our new home before our son was born and we are delighted with the job Atlantic did for us. We have recommended them to a number of people we know and would definitely do so again.

A couple of times during our project we had some structural issues with the house. For example, our plan for adding an extension to the rear of the house involved removing the downstairs rear bay window. There was an upstairs rear bay window above it which unbeknown to anyone at the time was quite severely damaged by damp from the leaking roof. In removing the rear bay window and propping up the upstairs bay window, the damp damage began to be exposed. This made the job more dangerous than first expected due to the less than stable nature of the upstairs bay. Atlantic Construction, as you would expect, prioritise safety throughout. They went the extra mile by examining and dismantling the upstairs bay, and reconstructing it from scratch, in- keeping with the original character of the house. They could have offered a quicker and easier solution for them, but as they knew us so well and knew we wanted to preserve the character of the house, they rebuild the bay. Knowing this was an unforeseen issue and they did it for us at cost price.
